Who?
Some people spell my name Rory O’Keefe. With one ‘f’. That makes this site hard to find when you google me. So I’m going to write Rory O’Keefe loads in this paragraph so people can find me when they type my name wrongly (Rory O’Keefe).
I don’t mind when people write Rory O’Keefe. O’Keefe is a very common spelling of my Irish surname. I wonder if Georgia O’Keeffe gets annoyed from beyond the grave when people write O’Keefe. Maybe she’s so famous that people never use the wrong spelling of O’Keefe. One day I want to be famous enough that people don’t write Rory O’Keefe, and when they do write Rory O’Keefe, Google says “did you mean Rory O’Keeffe?”. Because that’s my name: Rory O’Keeffe.
Anyways, as a stand-up I have gigged all over the UK, performed at LeeFest, End of the Road, and Latitude Festival. I have done the Brighton Fringe, Leicester Comedy Festival and performed at Edinburgh Fringe a surprising number of times for someone who looks “so young they’d get ID’d in a sweet shop” (LondonIsFunny). In 2014, I did “Rory O’Keeffe is a Fussy Eater”. It did not cure my fussy eating. In 2015, I did “Rory O’Keeffe: Job’s Worth”. It did not get me a job. In 2016, I did “Monoglot”, a show about learning Italian. I still don’t speak Italian. In 2017, I did ‘Rorytelling’ a show about losing my faith and my bag. It brought back neither. My next show is a storytelling venture called ‘The 37th Question’. It’s at the Vault Festival in Feb 2018.
From 2011-2013, I was a member/Domineering Leader of confusingly-named sketch comedy trio “Rory & Tim” (sorry Iain) who took three critically acclaimed shows to the Edinburgh Fringe and won the Audience Choice Award at London SketchFest 2013. People still look at our Facebook page sometimes. I can only imagine their disappointment.
I am represented by Hollie Ebdon, my agent at Ebdon Management; and by David Lammy, my MP for Tottenham.
